Partnership promotes safety

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) and the Department of Health are encouraging organisations in the East Midlands to help make their communities safer as they launch another £1m partnership to make public access defibrillators and CPR training more widely available. In 2015, 700 more defibrillators were made available in communities across England, including 120 in the East Midlands. Secretary of State for Health,

Jeremy Hunt, said: “I’m delighted to be working with the British Heart Foundation for a second year. Our investment will provide hundreds of defibrillators as well as training in CPR to communities across the country.’’ Organisations working in

partnership with the NHS Ambulance Service can apply for free community packages. Organisations can check if

they are eligible and apply for the free community by visiting: bhf.org.uk/defibengland

Working with the Wildlife Trust can boost wellbeing

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ‘wellbeing’ have become buzz words, with an individual’s wellbeing recognised as being at the forefront of their happiness and mental health, CSR being important vehicles for providing this. CSR does not just benefit the

organisation and its employees. Its stakeholders - including shareholders, customers and the wider community - benefit too.

‘Active charitable support can be a great motivator for some prospective employees’

CSR should be embedded into

the culture of the organisation, with the organisation seen as a force for good in its communities. Research shows that employers

have an influence on an individual’s sense of wellbeing. Indeed, many organisations recognise this and understand there are many ways to develop employee wellbeing.

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust works with a number of organisations across Derbyshire A close working relationship with

a charity as part of a good CSR policy can help with the retention and attraction of staff. Derbyshire Wildlife Trust works

with a large number of organisations across Derbyshire. Becoming a corporate supporter of the Trust enables organisations to develop their relationship with the local community and inspire and educate young people, as well as helping improve awareness of environmental issues. The Trust has been working with businesses on a variety of projects,

which all have lasting benefits, not only for the local community but for the business and staff themselves. Many opportunities are outside on one of its 43 nature reserves across the county. As people tend to spend less time outside, volunteering provides an excellent opportunity to readdress this. Furthermore it ticks the CSR box, particularly with regards to the environment and community. It helps form new alliances and offers excellent PR, as well as helping develop staff in an inexpensive but innovate way.
