BUSINESS SUPPORT
How can business coaching help your business?
By David Smith (pictured), Business Growth Director, Oxford Innovation
Some businesses use a business coach. Some don’t. But what’s it all about? I’ve been coaching businesses
for well over 15 years now and it’s fair to say that some of those that have never used a coach have viewed the concept with a degree of scepticism – but once they have engaged, they have reaped the benefits. Unlike a consultant, who
will scope a project, consider alternatives and implement the required actions themselves, a business coach equips the business owner to do it themselves while providing support and guidance along the way. The business owner gains new skills and knowledge that can be used time and again. You’ve probably heard the saying, give a man a fish, feed him today, give him a fishing rod and feed him for life. In simple terms, a coach will help a business to establish where it is and where it wants to be – and how best to get there. Here are just a few reasons why your business could benefit from using a business coach:
‘Ask any successful athlete what factors contributed to their success and most, if not all, will cite their coach as a primary influence. So why should business be any different?’
