his working with… a guy he worked with Russell Gulley. Yeah, Russell mentioned that to me.

I played at Skeeterfest one year, and Russell Gulley had Johnny Neel on keys and Chris Anderson from the Out- laws playing. I was like, “How’d you manage that?” And he goes, “I just asked ‘em.” Yeah, he’s a sweetie. He’s really...he’s some kind of songwriter. I’ve never written with anybody just like Johnny Neel - and how fast things come to him. It’s just an amazing process to watch him write songs. But I’ve been working with him and I’ve been writing some on my own. Just got back last night from a gig in Tallahassee with my band and I’ll be in Ohio this week, Ohio and Indiana. Just staying really busy between the solo work, the band work and writing. And writing goat books. (Laughs.)

Yeah. I know. That’s right.

Writing a goat book. (Laughs) That’s right. (Laughs) But nah, you know, when I get enough songs, you know, I’ll probably be cut- ting another album. It’s just whenever you get songs that you feel comfortable with and I guess that’s when it’ll happen.

Yeah, just like you have to do. I don’t know, my writing has been all over the board, man. It’s like I write country songs and these bluesy blues songs and some of ‘em are funny and some of ‘em are risqué, and so nothing really is cohesive enough, so people look at me they go, “Well, your album needs to kind of be... be cohesive.” And I’m like, “Well, it hasn’t ever been before so why should it now?”

I know what you mean. I write all dif- ferent kinds, too. It’s whatever comes to you at that time.

If you write the same kind all the time, they’ll start sounding alike. Yeah. Oh my gosh. I know. That could be bor- ing.

We can’t conclude without mentioning the fact that you’re a goat photogra- pher! I’m a goat photographer! In fact, I’m almost through writing a goat book. It’s just some of my photography. It’s called, Things I Learned From a Goat. (Buffalo laughs) And it’s got sayings to live by, really. It’s just going to be a little coffee table-type book. I’m working on that right now. But the goats were kind of an inspiration and a healing thing to me.
