Hot Tub & Swim Spa Scene SPARES & REPAIRS
Taking The Hot Tub High Road
Hot Tub Solutions carry out all the maintenance and repair work on four holiday hot tubs on the remote Knoydart Peninsula. Nestled in the Northwest Scottish Highlands between Loch Nevis and Loch Hourn, the Knoydart Peninsula has no roads in or out - the only access is by foot or by boat.
“The only access to the peninsula is via a small passenger
ferry so it’s a case of grab what you can and hop on,” explains Matt Herbert, owner of Hot Tub Solutions. Matt was fi rst called out to the peninsula four years ago to repair one of two hot tubs at the time. Since then, he has been making the eleven hour round trip two or three times per year to carry out routine maintenance and servicing on the hot tubs. Based in Lauder near the Scottish Borders, Hot Tub Solutions covers the whole of Scotland from the Orkney Islands to the Mull of Galloway. Having previously been involved with spas from a retail point of view, Matt spotted a gap in the market for hot tub repairs and decided to take the business forward in a purely service and maintenance direction in 2010. Matt adds: “Repair companies with a comprehensive knowledge, skillset and specialised training across all aspects of hot tub maintenance are few and far between in Scotland, which
customers and happy engineers.
“Elements of hot tubs and swim spas will go wrong in time like any household product, but the customer doesn’t mind so much if we are knowledgeable, responsive and quick on site.” The most common repair issues that the Hot Tub & Swim Spa Company engineers deal with are often to do with pumps, control panels, air controls and neck cushions. Christina continues: “We are lucky in that our hot tub and swim spa brand Hydropool guarantees every part of their products so

means I am often called out all over the country. “I work as a freelance engineer for a number of dealers and I frequently undertake training sessions with some of the leading manufacturers such as Balboa and Geko to keep up to speed with the latest products.”
items are extensively covered. However out of warranty the costs can be from a few pounds for jets and air controls upwards.” She adds: “We ensure all our teams are factory-trained so they are fully versed with the products and have the most up to date technical knowledge. We also ensure technical bulletins are passed to each of our engineers on a regular basis. All our engineers have iPhones with access to Dropbox where we keep history data on our customers’ and their hot tubs or swim spas.”
