“These products have really opened up the market and can even represent an alternative to DIY pools at the same price point. They are superb for families.” Chris Brady, CEO and founder of Lincolnshire-based, award winning, 1 Stop Spas, says his sales follow the same trend. “Sales are up on the same period in 2015 which is great, as last year was a huge growth year for 1 Stop Spas. Notably, not just unit sales are up, but the quality and value of the unit sales are far higher, with consumers recognising quality over price tag.”

Market Challenges

All Swim benefi ts from having most models in stock in the UK with just a couple of weeks lead time at the most, but in a worst case scenario, increased stock levels are 8-10 weeks away.

It’s a view echoed by Graham Message. “Growing in this market is diffi cult. It can be hard to predict demand and manage supply effi ciently.” Chris Brady also points out the danger of the lack of any formal education and technical training. He is working with the APSP and BISHTA to bring recognised training into the industry from 2017.

Chris acknowledges that swim spas are indeed the fastest growing sector of the industry and promoting the health and fi tness benefi ts are key to developing the business. Swim spa sales this year have been focused on the popular Vita Spa range and the Marquis ATV Kona, which Chris says is “without doubt, the most powerful swim spa yet.” Second only to swim spas in sales are high-end hot tubs from the Marquis Spas Signature range.

Jim Johnston, VP Marketing of leading manufacturer Marquis, says that both hot tub sales and swim spa sales are expanding at over 20% year on year so far.
