RWS Holdings, the Chalfont St Peter-based provider of high-quality translation, intellectual property and language support services, led the way among the larger companies from the region when it came to share price rises during April.
The group, which was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for the fifth time last year, employs over 600 staff operating companies in the UK, USA, Japan, China, Australia and Germany. It saw its share price rise 13% during a month when double-figure rises were thin on the ground.
The exception was in the section featuring the smallest quoted companies where shares in Starvest, the Woking-based investment company supporting early-stage mineral exploration, soared an amazing 130%.
The company announced towards the end of April that its trading portfolio value had risen from £1.04 million at the end of March to £1.32m. “A markedly improved trading environment since March 31 has resulted in significant gains in several portfolio stocks,” said the company. It added it planned to relaunch its website shortly, providing further details of the portfolio.
Another high riser was Newbury- based Immedia Group, which has been creating digital channels since 1999. The company boasts: “We create 'brand fans' by using the emotional glue of amazing music, brand conversation and engaging entertainment. We will provide you with an interactive digital channel enabling a closer connection with the people in your world.”
