This was a first and last award. Being a new award it would be presented for the first time, but it was also the last award presentation before a dining break.


Set to be awarded to a consultancy firm that had shown exceptional client service, the three finalists were:

Resource Experience (REL) was outgrowing its lease-expiring former premises, and risking its UK and European recognition as a ‘Great Place to Work’. Vail Williams’ brief was to secure a high quality mixed-use unit of 25,000 sq ft within striking distance of Bracknell. Vail Williams appointed a team of specialist surveyors, exhaustively searched the options, maintained regular client contact, negotiated a lease extension, overcame gazumping setbacks, and project managed the fit-out of the “wonderful new home” they found for REL at Winnersh Triangle.


Client service is a core value at the heart of Turley’s business. A recent independent client survey confirmed that: “In service terms, they are very, very good”; “They’re proactive, so we don’t need to chase them”; “They deliver more than I expect, quicker than I expect.” Pinewood Studios added: “Turley surpassed our expectations at every stage and the consequent allowing of Pinewood’s appeal and granting of permission testifies to Turley’s excellent performance.”


Key to LSH client service are the grounded and approachable nature of its teams; market awareness, current intelligence and involvement in all commercial property areas; and quality delivery of client requirements. “In all that we do, we challenge the status quo – to go beyond our clients’ expectations.“ The Thames Valley is also well-served by the

experience, knowledge and local insights of a 31-strong network of UK and Ireland offices, supported by the industry's largest database of leases, renewals and transactions.


Investor and property developer Andy Jansons, MD of sponsors Jansons Property, stepped up to announce the award winner – Vail Williams.


Afterwards partner Geoff Fallon explained that Vail Williams had previous TVPA involvement through attendance and sponsorship, but no peer recognition for its own work. “This year we really involved ourselves and this award is the pinnacle of everything we wanted to achieve. We are so excited by winning.”


Being a client service award made things even better, he added: “That’s what our business is all about – serving clients big or small and the clients saying they really appreciate what we have done, which is what REL did, and why they nominated us. I think they’ll be as excited as we are about this. It is absolutely brilliant.”


Vail Williams is entering a new era, he noted, with a new chief executive and regional managing partner, and the TVPA award now gave the firm the right to highlight what it does.


“We don’t normally shout about what we do, we just get on with meeting the client’s brief.”


The winning secret? Consistently delivering the same service is not good enough, says Fallon. “One of our core values is listening. You have to listen, care and understand exactly what the client wants.”


And, the message to other aspiring TVPA winners? “If you are not in it, you can’t win it.“
