1813 Club and Premier Members Warriors’ grass is greener

Chamber Premier Members Worcester Warriors, having secured their presence in the top flight of UK rugby for another year, will be the first Aviva Premiership club to convert to the latest generation of artificial grass pitch ahead of the new season. Warriors end the current season

with a home tie on 7 May against Saracens – a high-flying outfit which, a couple of years ago, broke new ground when it used the world’s first artificial turf pitch for professional rugby. The new all-weather surface,

from Italian specialists Limonta Sport, will permit greater use for the Warriors’ Elite, Academy and Community rugby as well as providing commercial opportunities for events and reducing maintenance costs. In the last six

years, Limonta Sport has installed more than 650 full-size sports fields worldwide for professional football and rugby teams. Warriors Chief Executive Jim

O'Toole said: "Our stadium pitch is the single most under-utilised asset

Google give the seal of approval

A Midlands digital marketing agency has been recognised as one of Google’s top performing partner businesses. Birmingham-based Global

Search Marketing has been named as one of the Internet giant’s top ten partners, based on the level of advertising spend it has achieved from web users.

The new all-weather grass will reduce maintenance costs

in the Club, currently being used for fewer than 100 hours per season. The structure of our existing playing surface means that we have to allocate eight to ten weeks per summer break to refurbish it, thus

removing the possibility of summertime playing

usage or commercial activity. "This exciting development not

only allows us to play more rugby at all levels on our biggest physical asset but also allows us to establish new commercial revenue streams

such as concerts, festivals and other non-rugby events." He added: "It is a significant

investment on behalf of the ownership and is another step in our journey to make the business profitable in the long term." The new ‘carpet’ pitch, which will

sit on a rugby-specific shock pad, features an organic mix including shredded coconut fibres – which gives the impression of being 100 per cent natural. Work on its installation will begin

on Friday 10 June and is scheduled to be completed by mid-August.
