C4UC Player Interview Karl Loiseau - Trillium Carnage
Ultimate Canada: What was the experience
like for your team at C4UC? Karl Loiseau: It was good, it’s nice that it was in our backyard here in Ottawa. Our Saturday games weren’t super close but the Sunday was really competitive.
(UC): How does this format differ from
regular ultimate? (KL): The format of the tournament isn’t too different than standard tournament play. Games are much shorter though and the fast pace of games makes it quite tiring.
(UC): What makes a good indoor player? (KL): Quickness is really emphasized in 4-on-4, it’s all about being able to get open in 1 to 2 steps. Also the throws required to be successful in the small space are completely different, it’s a lot more small/quick throws that can get past the defense without hanging for too long, so a lot of blades/scoobers/hammers.
(UC): Are you looking forward to getting back outdoors? & What do you miss most about playing outdoors?
2015 marked the second year that Ultimate Canada has hosted the C4UC. We had a chance to catch up with Karl Loiseau, a member of the gold medal-winning Trillium Carnage
(KL): For sure! 4-on-4 is a fun format for the off season given the limited field space and availability, it also gives you a lot of touches to stay sharp but it doesn’t beat regular Ultimate on the full sized fields.
Definitely looking to make strike cuts that are longer than 20 yards!
