Team Canada

will revolve around building chemistry, pushing one another and aligning under a common system. We have two training camps planned as well as multiple scrimmages against team USA, Great Britain, and possibly Australia.

There are so many things to be excited about with this team. For me, the opportunity to play on the same side with women that I normally compete against - women that I greatly respect and admire – is thrilling! It is an honor to compete against the best at worlds, and represent our country.

Team Canada women met in Vancouver in April for the first of two training camps. They are working on building chemistry one step at a time.

Our SCC Mike Haddock put the group through their paces including some specifics on SAQ form. The team demonstrated their understanding of the concepts we wanted to see during the weekend including resets, end zone and flow via drills and controlled scrimmages with pre-set teams. We even snuck some video review in for good measure.

Team Canada Open Team building: when in Vegas

Team Canada Open descended on Las Vegas February 19th to 21st for a training camp. Why Las Vegas you ask? Good weather, reasonable flights and where else can you rent a mansion that will provide sleeping space for 36 dudes.

This camp was all about team building and that was evident from the moment we arrived to find guys from all across the country chatting late into the night as the waves of players arrived from the nearby airport. Friday morning started with the sounds and smells of the breakfast team working their magic to make sure the whole team was fed before we headed out to the fields. Before the dishes were cleared the lunch team swooped in to assemble their meal for the fields. This scene would repeat itself each morning.

Saturday night the allure of the basketball net was too much to ignore and rotating 3-on-3 games soon broke out. I ignored the voice in my head that said that this was a bad idea but limited my kill joy to making sure Lloyd was limited to heckling. Saturday night the team took a trip to the strip for dinner and games. Karl showed off his skills with the cards and most of the rest of the crew found some cooperative dice. Even factoring the inevitable over reporting of earnings the team came away on the plus side. #fundraising
