Going Out - Page 49

to the Licor 43 Experience Recently, 55 members of the U3A Marina Baixa, set

off from Albir to the Licor 43 Factory near Cartagena. The group arrived at the factory at 11.30am and headed to the Licor 43 Experience Chill out Bar for our first sample of the day, which was a creamy coffee laced with the liqueur. The group then entered the Licor 43 Museum for a short video presentation on the origins and history behind the drink. We had two brilliant tour guides, Nieves & Sergio, who explained the history and processes involved.

After the museum and factory tour, the group returned to the Chill out bar where we were given a demonstration on creating a “Ginger 43”cocktail. Everyone was then given a large glass to sample and all agreed it was simply delicious. Our final drink was a “Mini beer” which is Licor 43 served in a shot glass shaped like a pint glass. The liqueur was poured in first and then topped with cooking cream. The cream stayed on top so the drink resembled a glass of beer. The factory tour concluded with a visit to the merchandising shop, where lots of Licor 43 was purchased, together with many other souvenirs. From the factory, the coach headed on to Cartagena with many “happy” passengers on board. The coach stopped at Cartagena Port and everyone headed off for a much needed late lunch and some sightseeing around the city. A big thank you to Rob, for another excellent trip, enjoyed by all.
