Welcome to the Stage Diary, a column that since it was first launched in 2007, has become a major central point of reference to amdram on the Costa Blanca. Not only is it a guide to what’s on in all the regions, but is also an important on-line introduction to potential expats researching community life in Spain. The diary also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.


Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: The society is in the final weeks of rehearsal for their forthcoming production of ‘Ruddigore’ in concert.


Tickets are still available, priced at 10€ each for two performances on 13th April at Casa de Cultura, Alfaz del Pi and 21st April at Salon Blau, Calpe. These can be ordered by phoning 96 648 0300 or 696 514 613.


Cantabi le Ladies Choir: Rehearsals are well under way for two concerts to be held firstly in Torrevieja Casino, Sunday 8th May at 8pm and La Siesta Church, Saturday 14th May at 7pm. If you are interested in joining a group of sociable, friendly ladies, you will be given a warm welcome. Rehearsals are every Friday from 3pm to 5pm at La Siesta Church. Costa Barber Singers: The Barber Shop Singers now have a new rehears al venue, Casal D’asociaciones in Be nissa. Guests and


new singers are always welcome. The group teach four-part acapella harmony without the need to learn to read music. It’s a fun hobby and they perform for charity. For more information, call Paul: 96 584 6624 or Roger: 96 649 7657.


Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir: The Choir has been busy rehearsing new material for the summer season starting with a music festival in Barcelona early May, followed by a concert in Teulada on the 14th May. Their visitors from the UK this year are the Basingstoke Ladies Choir. A new brochure will be available free shortly. Footlights Theatre Group: After a very successful Spring Fair, Footlights are now starting rehearsals for their October ‘Variety Showcase’ p e r f o r m a n c e . Changes are happening with the group now under new

GASP: The cast are now into final rehearsals for their next production sc he dul ed for Saturday 21st May and Sunday 22nd, curtain up 7.30pm at the Santara Antara Resort, (Life Resort) Gran Alacant. Jávea Players: Roger Brown is directing the first production of Javea Players’ 40th Anniversary Year, ‘Steel Magnolias.’ This strong and very emotive but often hilarious play, set in Truvy’s Beauty Parlour in Louisiana, will be staged at the Javea
