The sun doesn’t only age your skin. Cars with badly faded and peeling paint are common in Spain and avoidable with a wooden car port, which is much cheaper and quicker to build than a conventional garage, and with treated sculptured timbers are very easy on the eye.
In actual fact although the sun shines it seems daily, there have been giant hail storms that have caused horrific damage to cars, one recently close to Pinoso in the Alicante region where the violence of the storm and size of hailstones caused many cars to be written off completely. A car port would have saved them.
Dogs also suffer in the sun and it´s not pampering your pooch to provide him with a wooden home to call his own. It´s not a negative thing for dogs
to “be in the doghouse” in Spain, and have permanent shade. Wooden kennels start at only 155€ .
Probably the most popular of the products are their pergolas, which start at only €275 (2m x 2m), or for a veritable pergola palace (5m x 5m) the price is still a very reasonable €545. Let the bougainvillea crawl beautifully around the sculptured wood, decorate with floaty white curtains and some cushions, and hey presto you have your own top notch chillout zone.
And they make gazebos too. For those of you who don´t know the difference between a pergola and a gazebo (no, we didn´t either) apparently gazebos always have covered roofs.
