Female Focus The Barbecue and Grilling Academy

Stephen Gill has worked in some of the most prestigious restaurants here on the Costa Blanca, and after falling in love with the world of outdoor grilling, has taken his 20 years of cooking experiences to create The Barbecue and Grilling Academy, or The BGA Workshop as its more commonly known.

Located within La Siesta Group in Gata de Gorgos, Stephen and the team have created a relaxed and tranquil area with ample space for up to 6 students, 7 days a week and classes start at just 35€ per person. They have an extensive range of Broil King BBQ’s on display within their showroom, allowing you to see just how great they are to use and impress your friends and family with a completely new concept here on the Mediterranean Coast!

The BGA Workshop opened their doors on Saturday 19th of March with live cooking demonstrations and allowing visitors to create their own sausages and spice blend with their resident butcher.

A wine tasting also took place to accompany the many dishes that Stephen created on the day including Mini Burgers, Brioche stuffed with Pulled Pork and finger licking Ribs smothered in Smoked Apricot BBQ Sauce.

If you would like to find out any information regarding their classes, please visit their website www.thebigbadbbqcompany.com or pop in and visit them in La Siesta Group in Gata de Gorgos. You will not be disappointed!

SOS building team fixes children’s roof

Recently a team of experts from Knight’s Constructions and the Continental Wealth Management building team volunteered their time to take on the repair of a dangerous portion of the roof at the Relleu children’s home, which has been leaking for some time.

The large SOS building team overseen by Tony Grande of the Make A Smile Charity, repaired and resurfaced the damaged roof in 10 hours of non-stop work. A fund had been set up by the Make a Smile charity and thanks to Benitachell Charity shop who donated 1750€ for roof repairs, and also made a second donation of 630€ to replace the old fire door, Make A Smile was able to purchase all the materials to carry out the work. While the builders were at the home, they also re-tiled a bathroom which had been damaged by the leaking roof.

On the same day Make A Smile volunteers planted over 200 fruit trees at the Relleu Self Sufficiency Project to create an orchard for the residents there. The trees were funded by La Caixa Bank’s Social fund who donated 2500€ to Make A Smile after they had heard about the work being done by the charity to better the lives of the underprivileged children and mentally challenged residents at the Emaus homes.
