Make the Velvetones your New Year’s resolution!
We are looking for ladies to sing with us in our harmony choir. You will need to: Be free to practise with us on a Wednesday morning from 10am-12.30. Be in Spain for at least 5-6 months every year. Love to sing. Enjoy meeting new people and making friends.
We do not: Practise July and August. Take part in competitions. Sing barbershop.
We sing for fun and to support our charities – this year they are AFA and ALPE. We also have social members who do not wish to sing but enjoy listening to us and having a chat at tea break. We also have many social outings throughout the year which all members are free to attend. We meet at El Paraiso Restaurant behind McDonalds and Carrefour.

Radio Control Mar Menor Sailing Group
We are an International One Metre radio controlled sailing club and race every week. Our venue is the excellent new water sports facility next to the Lo Pagan fishing quay. While we welcome all types of boats our main racing class is the I.O.M (one metre class). The class is recognised by the Spanish Sailing Federation and by the International Sailing Federation. We race to RYA rules, rules which you will soon pick up, the racing is competitive but always friendly. You will also
meet a great bunch of friendly guys! We have some fourteen
I.O.Ms and can help new members source new or secondhand boats. Both experienced and beginners are all welcome and help is always at hand to get less experienced members started. Ladies are also very welcome whether they want to take part or just socialise with the other wives that attend race days. After racing we go for lunch or coffee and a chat at one of the nearby excellent beach bars.
The club has had a very successful first year running weekly races and having a number of well attended away days, visiting other IOM clubs up and down the Costas, taking part in National Regattas and friendly race days. Many of our members have joined the Spanish IOM association and acquired federation licences. This licence allows them to qualify and compete in national and international championship events. Other members are just as happy to race at club level only, whichever is your preference you can enjoy some good competition.
