RHG Buys The Tucker Brand
Nearly every window cleaner that has been around in the industry a while knows the name Tucker. Many even refer to their water fed pole as a Tucker pole, regardless of the manufacturer. Earlier this year RHG, USA bought the Tucker Pole brand and a new era was born. WCM speaks to Shaun Gavin, CEO of RHG Products Company on the purchase of this iconic brand. But before we do, Robin Tucker, the previous President of Tucker Manufacturing Co. gives our readers the low down on Tuckers amazing history.
Tucker Manufacturing Co., Inc. started in 1945 with other products and in the mid-1950’s a home-car washer was designed for the consumer. The University of Iowa noticed the products and they had 3-4 story windows that they needed to clean around the iconic Old Capital area of the campus. These were WPA era university buildings. So, we left the consumer market in 1957 and entered into the commercial market with the Tucker® High Level Window Washer. By the 1980's, the product was coined the Tucker Pole, which was about the time water technology and the Tucker Pole meet each other in California.
The Tucker Pole predated the invention of the extension pole in painting or window cleaning. The brush has always been a popular tool in window cleaning, in certain markets. The 1960's brought expansion globally, despite being a niche business.

I began working with my Dad in the beginning of 1988. My first ISSA Convention was Atlanta 1990. My father was with Tucker, since 1945, after my grandfather sold another business, which a part
became what TMCO was in the 1940-50s. We began out of an aluminium foundry.
Grandfather - invented the product - I.L. “Irv” Tucker, he had invented other products prior to the Tucker Pole, as well. He was a pioneer and we began to export in the early 1960's under my grandfather. Our distribution into Japan began in 1964, after already being in Canada.
Father - Dad was the leading force, when the Tucker Pole met the water industry (1980’s -
