Club software solves administration hassles so you can spend more time with members

BY KATHRYN KORCHOK WHO: Kyle Zagrodzky is the 46-year-

old CEO and founder of iGoFigure Software. His 48-year-old brother and vice president Matt came on board when their father Ed, who helped launch the company in 1997, retired 10 years ago. The brothers are from Houston, Texas, where the company is based. Kyle is a black belt in five mar- tial arts disciplines.

WHAT: iGoFigure Software provides

cloud-based membership and cus- tomer management software for cli- ents primarily in the fitness indus- try, including fitness centres, martial arts studios, dance studios, yoga and Pilates studios, health spas and more. The software has flexible functionality and is able to satisfy the needs of most fitness clubs and businesses, from in- dividual clubs to multi-club and fran- chise operations whose owners want to manage multiple clubs from a single platform. With its fully integrated pay- ment processing, money management, inventory tracking and reporting ca- pabilities, as well as retention manage- ment, online scheduling and member communication services, iGoFigure has been translated into 20-plus lan- guages and has thousands of clients

in more than 58 countries around the world. “The primary focus is to make the

software super-easy to use because you’ll have both managerial and owner level functionality that’s complex, and you’ll have rank and file employees who need to use it on a daily basis,” notes Kyle. “The other focus is to maintain low fees so our customers make money.”

WHEN: iGoFigure Software was

founded in 1997. WHERE: The Houston headquarters

has approximately 40 employees work- ing in development, marketing, opera- tions, quality assurance, sales, tech- nical support and customer training. Another office will be opening shortly in California.

WHY: Kyle parlayed his BBA

(Bachelor of Business Administration) degree in marketing from the University of Houston into several en- trepreneurial ventures, but he found his niche when he opened nine fitness clubs in Texas during the 1990s. Kyle manually tracked his clubs’ member- ship information because existing club management software was expensive, not user-friendly and not geared to smaller or individual clubs. He sought

a better way to affordably and more ef- ficiently manage his information and other business activities. “As they say, necessity is the mother

of invention,” says Kyle. After designing the software for his

own club, he then started selling it to other fitness centres. That venture be- came so successful that Kyle eventu- ally sold his clubs to focus 100 percent on iGoFigure. “Since then, available technology

and iGoFigure have come a long way,” says Kyle. “In 1997, nobody had ever heard of cloud-based software. Four years ago, we launched our fully web- based product. The fact that it’s cloud- based makes certain features available that simply weren’t available before the cloud.”
