It was an educa- tional experience with activities that included candle-making, bread- making, quilting, clogging, blacksmith demonstrations, fishing clinics, water activities, and more! Yesteryear Village is a history park nestled on 10 acres with a collection of early, original and replicated buildings including an old school, a farm, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.

All About Urban Agriculture” 2nd Annual fair to be bigger and better!
Pinellas County, Florida – Visitors to the 2nd annual Greater Pinellas Country Fair
will learn about the benefits of Urban Agriculture which is a significant part of Pinellas County; the most densely populated county in the state of Florida. Where cattle and citrus once thrived, Pinellas County is now rich with backyard chickens, bunny rabbits, and honeybees, as well as community gardens and farmers markets. Our Urban Agriculture exhib- its will highlight Pinellas County’s agricultural heritage, and create new cultural traditions. We will develop and nurture the friendly competition of county youth groups such as 4H, FFA, and school and community clubs, and provide a forum for them to showcase their livestock and crops, including chickens, rabbits, honeybees, goats, horses and more, as well as container, organic, community, vertical and hydroponic gardens. Children and adults alike will also seek the coveted Blue Ribbon in the areas of art, baking, canning, woodworking, quilting and more. The entire family will enjoy daily entertainment including fun pig
races, performing miniature horses, and exotic Polynesian dancers. Mu- sical performances will include a battle of the bands, Barbershop quar- tet, a local favorite band - The Black Honkeys, and a special concert by the famous Bellamy Bros. Modern Midway’s carnival rides will delight and thrill all ages with something for everyone including thrill and kiddy rides. And of course no fair is complete without great fair food and the enticing aromas that fill the midway! Fair hours are 6-10 pm on Thursday evening (with an opening cere-
mony at 7 pm); Friday and Saturday noon-10 pm; Sunday noon-8 pm. The fair will also host school field trips on Friday morning, and a Chris- tian youth gathering on Sunday morning. Friday from noon-5 pm is Senior Citizen Day. The 2nd Annual Greater Pinellas Country Fair is all about bringing Pinellas county together for good, wholesome family fun, great entertainment, friendly competitions, community pride, and educa- tional experiences for the whole family! The South Florida Fair invited families and children to attend
Spookyville, a safe, fun, Halloween event that took place Oct. 16-18, Oct. 23-25, Oct. 30 and on Halloween, Oct. 31. The activities took place in Yesteryear Village at the South Florida Fairgrounds, “Spookyville is designed to be an old-fashioned Halloween event for kids 12 and under with trick or treating each day,” Spookyville’s high- lights included trick-or-treating, carnival rides, a haunted maze, old- fashioned games, arts and crafts, a spooky house, scavenger hunt, a barrel train, vendors and food and drinks. Those who wore a costume on both Sundays competed for prizes which started at 1 p.m. A pet costume contest was held on all three Fridays, Oct. 16, 23 and 30. Participating Sponsors were Ford, Kabota, Florida Dairy Farmers, Nozzle Nolan and Coca Cola.
