Then your appointment arrives and you see the heartbeat – is that heart beating too fast? Oh and the internet is full of evil to fill your worried mind with. My last appointment I went to, we were supposed to be able to find out the gender of our baby – unfortunately baby was positioned wrong and we couldn’t tell for sure. Now we wait for another three weeks. Then we wait for our belly to start showing. I find myself constantly looking at pictures of other pregnant women and comparing my own non showing belly. We also don’t have a medical aid so I find myself worried about finances too. To all the pregnant ladies out there, I salute you all, including myself – it truly is only a woman that can carry all these worries with her, grow a child, run a household, have a job, have time for your loved ones and be able to offer so much love to our unborn baby. LEANNE
ED’S NOTE: While it’s normal, try not worry too much. From what I read, it seems you are doing the very best for your baby.

We apologise for the error we made in our New Baby Guide on page 57 – which read: “Some parents are afraid of vaccines as they have heard that immunisation may lead to serious problems such as autism. The latest research does support these claims”. It should have read: “The latest research does not support these claims.” For the correct article see:
