YOUR VOICE WINNING LETTER

ON TOP OF THE WORLD It’s been a long, rocky road. After months and months of anxiously waiting and many tests later, we are finally pregnant. When it’s been such a long wait, it seems surreal when your hopes and dreams finally come true. The euphoria doesn’t last long though. At six weeks I had morning sickness of epic proportions. There was bloating, indigestion, constipation and lots of vomit. I barely ate for two whole months. I’m now happily in my fifth month after the terrific feat of overcoming the first trimester. I’m now basking in the gorgeous glow that accompanies this wonderful time. My growing round belly gives me cause to smile at least 10 times a day and my acrobatic bouncing bean’s kicks give me endless joy. I can hardly contain myself. My daughter Kadie is so excited about this new addition to our family and being the fashionista that she is, has already decided that it will be her duty to choose the baby’s outfit each day. My husband, Jonathan, dotes on me and if I’m honest, has never seemed as in love or attracted to me as he is right now. This is our first child together and if his relationship with Kadie is anything to go by, it looks like he’ll be a wonderful father. CANDICE MCLEAN

MY CHANCE I am 28 years old. I had nearly given up on life until I met the man of my dreams. We were dating for only two months when I fell pregnant. In my previous relationship my boyfriend broke up with me because I didn’t fall pregnant. I was having problems with my tubes being blocked. I was in and out of the hospital and I had surgery many times. But nothing worked, until now. I am now 32 weeks pregnant with twins. I can’t wait to hold

DADDY LOVE

I would love to commend fathers who love their partners the whole nine months and beyond. I am 29 weeks pregnant and my partner has been my source of strength and support – from the first pee stick, to the doctor’s visits and even buying me YP. I wake up to him telling me that while I was sleeping the baby had been kicking. He really enjoys

SUPPORT

Our firstborn was diagnosed with a rare syndrome called Cornelia de Lange syndrome. Despite all the hardships, she brings joy to our lives. She is a bubbly little girl and a true blessing. We are now 25 weeks pregnant with our second child. We are very happy, if not a little scared of the unknown, but reading YP has really helped us in our pregnancy – as has my highly positive hubby, my little girl and the bouncy little boy in

LOOKING GOOD I’m 30 years old and currently 28 weeks pregnant with baby number two. Most mornings I look in the mirror and think: “Damn, you make pregnancy look good Charlene!” Then I get to work and I have to put on an overall coat and safety boots. Ego shattered! CHARLENE HENRY

STRONGER NOW I’m 26 years old and 40 weeks pregnant with my first child. Being single and having to do everything on my own is hard. Some days I regret falling pregnant, but I also remember that none of this was planned. I broke up with my boyfriend a few weeks after finding out I was pregnant. It was stressful but I managed to pull through. I’m due for an induction soon and I’m finding it hard as I need someone to hold my hand. I’ve heard all the horrible stories about how painful childbirth can be but now I’ve come so far, all on my own, and I can’t wait to hold my baby. ANON

ED’S NOTE: We’re proud of you for doing this on your own. Try to find a friend or family member who can hold your hand on the big day. Also read our article on labour on page 40 to boost your confidence as a mom-to-be.

LOVE IN TOUGH TIMES

I found out that I was pregnant a week after my husband was involved in a car accident. Every day I supported him at the hospital, even though I felt terribly sick. I vomited on the trains and taxis on my way to visit him and I felt dizzy all the time. After two months my husband woke up and the first thing I did was show him a scan of the baby – he was so excited. I bought YP because I was clueless about pregnancy. Now I know what to expect and I feel fully prepared. My husband is getting stronger every day; he says it’s because
