A DRIVER who injured an off- duty police officer before leaving him in the middle of the roadwas sentenced to three years and three months in jail. Lewis Goldswain (28), of Vic-


arage Road, Halling attacked the officer in London Road, Larkfield, in July last year and left him with injuries including a fractured spine. He admitted causing injury by dangerous driving and was sen- tenced at Maidstone Crown Court. He was banned from driving for three years, deprived of his vehicle

the Golf, taking out his warrant card to show his badge and photo ID. After a brief discussion though the driver’s window, Goldswain moved sharply. The officer tried to seize the keys from the ignition and Goldswain revved the engine. The vehicle leaped forward before stop- ping, with the officer’s body caught through the driver’s window. Goldswain then accelerated and


shot up a ramp in the car park, dragging the officer along. He then reversed, dragging the victim over an island of traffic lights and then

points in the show was Ann But- terworth who received the Lark- fieldAward and a silver cup which was donated for the produce show by the former Larkfield Garden- ers’ Society.
