CPS has been involved in a number of big ticket areas recently. The fi rst area involves the national Out of Hours review being led by Professor Lewis Ritchie. Professor Ritchie also heads the steering group on Prescription for Excellence. For the fi rst time three pharmacy stakeholders in the RPS, Directors of Pharmacy and ourselves collaborated on a joint response. This was submitted to the review after agreement on the messages was arrived at by all partners. Initial feedback has been very positive around the pharmacy led solutions put forward within the submission. The recommendations should follow in early October and the challenge will then be the implementation of these recommendations involving pharmacy. CPS believes the submission is a pragmatic and realistic one which can be delivered with the community pharmacy network playing a signifi cant role.
The end of September sees the launch of our ‘Community Pharmacy Scotland Manifesto’ on behalf of members ahead of party conferences and next year’s Scottish parliamentary elections. This manifesto seeks commitments from political decision makers to support and enhance the role of the pharmacy network for patients in line with signifi cant policy areas. The CPS Board and Council had signifi cant input into shaping the themes of the manifesto. The manifesto will be launched at an event on the 30th of September which
is being attended by politicians, patient groups and other pharmacy stakeholders. The CPS team will continue to promote these messages in a variety of arenas over the coming months. Anyone who requires further information after the launch is welcome to contact the offi ce.
Finally the CPS Board have signed off a brand refresh for Community Pharmacy Scotland in line with our recently agreed brand values. Keep an eye out at the end of October for our updated and fresh logo as well as an upgrade to the CPS website which will include making it fully mobile compatible. More info will follow on that in the coming weeks and months but as always any feedback is appreciated, to ensure we are meeting the demands and aspirations of our members in a positive manner.
