about the issues around bringing this programme to fruition and how it plans to help shape Scotland’s leaders for tomorrow, today.


The modern NHS, and associated health and social care landscape, continues to undergo change at an exceptional rate and scale. Pharmacy leaders, both now and in the future, are likely to encounter increasing challenges to the profession amidst an evolving leadership culture and climate.


Pharmacy Management understands the high priority challenge that this presents, and has therefore worked closely with senior pharmacists across Scotland to design and deliver


a unique approach to leadership development.


“Pharmacy Management was approached in 2014 by a number of senior pharmacists in NHS Scotland,” Clare explains. There was an interest in developing the Pharmacy Management Academy series for Scotland’s pharmacy teams. There was a desire to create a course that gave emerging leaders in pharmacy the technical leadership skills they need to deliver ‘Prescription for Excellence.’


“However, it was agreed that this needed to be part of a full programme, rather than just one off training sessions.


“Early on in the discussions, it became clear that the skills training being offered would also greatly support pharmacists in their submission to the
