use the outhouse because of my fear of bugs, leeches, spiders, and spider webs. Roughing it for me today
would be staying at a four-star hotel instead of a five-star. One of my favorite things to
eat, during the few times that I have been dragged out to go camping, is Italian Sausage with Peppers. They are simple and quick to make, and oh-so-tasty. You simply need a camping stove, campfire or portable barbecue, a foil pan, one green, one yellow and one red bell pepper; salt, pepper, a touch of chili flakes, olive oil, and about six links of Italian sausage. Start with a foil pan. Add oil
and place on fire. Grill the Italian sausage for a little while to let some of the juices flow from the meat. Then toss in the seasoned peppers, salt, pepper, chili flakes and cook until tender and the flavor of the peppers and juices of the sausage marry. Some prefer to add a little wine and simmer until half the wine is evaporated. I just prefer to drink the wine. A nice pairing would be a Barbera, Italian Classico, Nebbiolo, or Pino Noir.
