For the love of cars 10 BOUNDER MAGAZINE Most people think the car community is filled with guys. But we do
have a number of female car enthusiasts, and several couples who love cars, too. I met Bill Van Leur and his wife, Wendy, more than 30 years ago at an
indoor car show in Winchester, Ont. I had my 1940 Chevy coupe entered in the show, and across the show floor was the Van Leurs’ 1932 Ford two-door sedan street rod. They drove their street rod for several years and then sold it to fund
other projects, as so many of us do. As time went on, they started to acquire more vehicles, and these vehicles just kind of stayed in their lives. Today they have several cars, and they both enjoy being part of the car
world. Bill is a partner in a fire protection business, and Wendy is recently retired from a career in the high tech industry. Their current stable of vehicles include: • a 1933 Ford coupe street rod • a 1951 Mercury custom car • a 1966 modified VW • a 1964 Cadillac Coupe de Ville (that was built by a famous California custom car builder)
• a 1992 BMW • a 1947 Studebaker pickup (under reconstruction) • a 1935 Ford pickup (under construction) • a recently-purchased 1965 Chevy C-10 pickup. As you can see, they are not loyal to any type of special interest vehicle
