McLaren RFC is a thriving and well-supported rugby club based in Callander. The club was established in 1990 and recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a gala dinner dance at which Scottish rugby legend and broadcaster, John Beattie, was the guest of honour. The club re-established itself at the heart of the community when the new pitch at Callander Primary School opened last year.
The club fi elds a senior side which competes in RBS West of Scotland Division 2. We are ambitious about our prospects for promotion this season, just missing out in recently when we fi nished third in the league. Our players are drawn from across the local area, including Dunblane and Doune, and we are always looking for players to strengthen our squad. This is our number one priority at the moment and if you have experience or just plain enthusiasm for the game we want to hear from you!! The club is also nourished by a fl ourishing minis and junior section which boasts over 100 youngsters, girls and boys, who turn out regularly every weekend from August to May sporting the club’s colours. If you have a child who’s eager to join, or if you have coaching experience, even at a rudimentary level, please contact us. You will be most welcome.
The club also has a very energetic social calendar and we will be hosting another comedy night in late autumn which is a testament to our exuberant and energetic approach on engaging our members.
