Welcome to the Stage Diary, a column that since it was first launched in 2007, has become a major central point of reference to amdram on the Costa Blanca. Not only is it a guide to what’s on in all the regions, but is also an important on-line introduction to potential ex-pat’s researching community life in Spain. It also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.
Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: After their summer break, the society is now back rehearsing their concert production
of Ruddigore opening next spring. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday evening, 7pm-9pm at the Footlights centre, Calpe. They are always looking for more members to join this friendly group. Anyone interested should contact musical director Aileen: 696 514 613.
Campoverde Theatre Group: The group will be auditioning for their new pantomime, The Owl and the Pussy Cat on Monday 14th September at the Community Centre, Blue Lagoon, 2pm with Director Mike Shail. New members are particularly welcome with on or back stage skills. They are also urgently looking for someone with stage management experience. Cantabile Ladies Choir: Now in rehearsals for a Seasonal Concert to be held at La Siesta Church Saturday 28th November, 7pm. Part one
will feature songs by composers such as Elgar, Beethoven and John Rutter, the second part, Christmas melodies by modern composers. As always they welcome new singers. Careline Theatre: The next production will be the hit musical Bugsy Malone , directed by Lee Walker and choreographed by Suzanna Mace. Performances are 16th
flagship Christmas concerts in Javea, (date confirmation later) and Benitachell Church on 16th December. 2016 brings the choirs first tour to a festival in Barcelona. The choir is always looking for new singers regardless of age, ability or nationality. Website:

Footlights Theatre Group: Calpe based Footlights Theatre Group are back in rehearsal preparing for their production of the multi award winning Broadway musical Annie. Performances in November at Alfaz

GASP: The group are in their final stages of rehearsals for this month’s production, An Evening of Comedy Sketches, opening on September 18th in the

Jávea Players: Crocodiles in Cream, a portrait of Lewis Carroll, has won critical acclaim worldwide. A masterpiece of playwriting by David Horlock and a brilliant portrayal by Kevin Moore who performs at the Javea Players’ Studio Theatre this month from the 7th to the 11th.

Melody Makers International: MMI had an excellent 2014 -2015 season playing to capacity audiences for their January and June concerts. This season promises to be even more exciting with a spot at the Benidorm Palace Help for Hero’s concert on Sunday 4th October.
