Masked Cyber Ball in Javea by Benny Davis
Facebook group Javea Connect is holding a party for all social media members, inviting them to meet face to face. An evening designed to bring together pen friends, enemies, passive, argumentative and casual followers of this ten year old Google extension. The event, which will be held on 12th September at The Dance Café, Toscamar, Javea, should present a few surprises. Although ‘Facebook’ is the key word, ironically most of the 100 contributors have remained faceless and voiceless, allowing them to vent their feelings protected by a certain amount of anonymity. So will a face-to-face situation lead to confrontation, love affairs or possibly violence?
“Not so,” says Javea Connect organisor Loraine Gostling, “The event will be a Masquerade Ball, allowing members to retain their private identities if they prefer, although in reality, I expect JC followers to make friends and enjoy what we expect to be a really great fun evening”.
The evening starts at 8pm with music by the Strickland band with Rob Sweeney and continues until late with Steve Solo. Dress theme including masks, any combination of red, white and black. Tickets including buffet, open to all, 20€, obtainable from Javea Arenal, Tarick at Goldrush; Javea Port, Lenceria Susan; La Rebotica; Moraira, Tracie Bar La Tapa. All profits will be entered into a charity lottery.
Whether this Masquerade Ball is an unprecedented Facebook event or not is impossible to say, but it will certainly be a first face-to-face cyber event to be recorded in local Spanish history.
HELP of Denia and Marina Alta Christmas Fair
The fair will be held once again at Los Arcos, Pedreguer on the 14th of November. This will be our third year at this lovely venue.
For the past two years it has been a very successful day for the charity with all the classic stalls from HELP including the ever popular homemade cakes and decorations but the excellent selection of visiting stalls adds the icing to the cake
so to speak.
