CO-LOCATING A SMART MOVE FOR SPLASH! NEW ZEALAND The 5th edition of the biennial SPLASH! New Zealand will return to The ASB

Showgrounds (formerly known as the Auckland Showgrounds) in June and will be co-located with buildnz/designex, a move which will enable exhibitors to reach pool builders and project managers. buildnz is a leading trade fair for the building and construction industry with a solid reputation for bringing building professionals and construction industry innovators together to share ideas, showcase the latest products, and develop business relationships.

designex is New Zealand’s foremost design, interiors, and lighting trade exhibition where interior designers, specifiers, architects, and others in the design sector go to encounter new materials, assess the latest trends, and meet new suppliers.

The SPLASH! Shows alternate each year between New Zealand and Australia but are organised by the same team at Interpoint Events who will be promoting this year’s event to past attendees and all the readers of their Australasian SPLASH! magazine. There will be a dedicated area on the expo floor, as well as industry seminars for pool shop owners and pool technicians. The event provides the opportunity to launch new products, network and build existing relationships, come face to face with residential and commercial professionals, meet the press and build brand awareness.

The exhibition is the must-attend event for manufacturers, retailers, pool builders, contractors, architects, landscapers and service technicians to stay ahead of market directions, trends and new technology.

ALL CHANGE AT LEISURE INDUSTRY WEEK As well as changing to a two- day show, Leisure Industry Week (LIW) was sold earlier in the year to BodyPower Holdings Ltd, the owners of Europe’s largest consumer fitness expo. “LIW has a huge potential and is a great strategic fit with our current business activities,” said Nick Orton, BodyPower founder and CEO, adding: “My team have the ability, knowledge and experience to take this prestigious expo to the next level. We have a rich history of developing trade shows, and a more recent history of success in the fitness and leisure markets. “We are excited, motivated and passionate about taking on LIW – exhibitors, sponsors, partners and visitors can expect to see some interesting developments, all geared towards growing an already fantastic event, which has been superbly handled by the professionalism of the outgoing UBM team.” With the amount of companies exhibiting at the annual Birmingham show shrinking over recent years, what the change in ownership means for the wet leisure sector specifically remains to be seen. At the time of publication, there was no facility to see what companies will be exhibiting this year however according to the show’s website,

BARCELONA 2015 FEATURES NEW DATES PLUS A BRAND NEW NAME AND IMAGE

The next edition of Piscina & Wellness Barcelona will be held 13 – 16 October 2015 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via Exhibition Centre, one week ahead of the initially

planned date in order to adapt to the trade show calendar and with the aim of attracting a larger number of exhibitors and visitors. The date change was announced along with a brand new name and image to strengthen the show’s connection with a sector that is looking for water-related facilities and uses associated with health, wellbeing and leisure. By bringing the dates forward and implementing this new approach – which reflects the recommendations of Spain’s ASOFAP association and leading companies in the market in Spain – Piscina & Wellness Barcelona hopes to increase its already significant pulling power which, with 62% of exhibitors and 37% of visitors coming from abroad, has established itself as one of the world’s top events in the sector, featuring a full range of aquatic facilities and installations. “Our show is attended by exhibitors and trade professionals from around 100 different countries with an interest in the Spanish swimming pool market – the second largest in Europe and fourth biggest in the world – and in the event’s export connections with the Mediterranean Arc and Latin America. This is why, event after event, we try to adapt as fully as possible to market needs so we can provide new business opportunities and consolidate a recovery that has already begun,” confirms the President of the show’s organising committee and Chief Executive of Fluidra, Eloi Planes. With the name change and a focus more on the wider wellness market, the show will also be taking advantage of the strength of the Spanish tourism industry to present products and ideas to hotels, camp sites, rural guesthouses, spa resorts and wellness centres.
