SWIM SPAS

The Swim Spa Success Story

Passion Spas offers one of the largest selections of swim spas in the world, with sizes ranging from 4 metres to nearly 8 metres in length

With sales going from strength to strength, the concept of the swim spa is now accepted as an alternative to a traditional small pool and it seems there is no stopping their popularity in the UK. Whether it’s a value for money party spa or a high end training aid for an athlete, as each year passes there’s an ever-widening choice of models on offer from manufacturers keen to secure their piece of this expanding market. We examine the swim spa success story

hen it comes to swim spas, it seems as though whenever they are mentioned, they are tipped to do well, outperform other

products in the market in terms of growth and have their best year since… well, since last year and it’s been like that for quite a while now. In fact stretching back for several years. So why exactly are swim spas consistently doing so well year after year?

Acceptance has played a large part in their success, as has price. So too has the choice of models and the desire to have a product that provides the dual use of swim and spa rolled into one. As a compact alternative to a swimming pool, there’s no denying that swim spas are a great option for people who want the ability to swim and relax plus provide a family entertaining area but without losing too much garden space.

Hot tub manufacturers clearly feel it’s a growing market too with further models being launched, new entrants into the market and some swim spa manufacturers being bought out.

So will this year be another ‘year of the swim spa’? Well I wouldn’t bet against it and this issue we take a look at some of the brands and models that are adding to the swim spa success story.

COST IS KEY TO SUCCESS OF VITA SPA MODELS

Historically swim spas always had a high value price point which potentially strangled the growth of market in their early years. However, Vita Spa along with other

Vita Spa launched two feature-rich swim spas

with the aim of bridging the cost gap between high-end above-

manufacturers noticed that this sector of the hot tub market had substantially increased in popularity countrywide and the need for a more economical range was evident to capitalise on the predicted growth. With this in mind Vita Spa launched two feature rich swim spas with the aim of bridging the cost gap between high-end above-ground pools and the traditional in-ground pool. “We have noticed a staggering increase in our swim spa sales since the introduction of our 14ft XL4 and XB4 models,” said Graham Message of Aqua Warehouse Group, adding: “Not only in these two models but it has promoted sales in the higher priced 16ft versions as well.”

“It’s very noticeable that the price gap today between hot tubs and swim spas has greatly reduced where people can now make the small step up and purchase a swim spa instead of the hot tub,” commented Richard Hart, Managing Director of Aqua
