Heatstar At The Heart Of Award Winning Sustainable Pools
Everyone knows that super- efficient Heatstar environmental control units play a major role in pool sustainability and energy saving efficiency. But, just in case proof was needed, did you know that in the last three years, for the pools that won Gold in the Sustainability category at SPATA’s Industry Awards, Heatstar was the manufacturer of choice for environmental control. The category for pool sustainability at the annual awards is one of the most prestigious and celebrates the very best in efficiency, energy saving and environmental control that a swimming pool
can deliver. Every one of the last three
Gold Award winning swimming pools featured at its heart a Heatstar environmental control unit. The Sustainability Award category shows that the very best sustainable pools fit the very best environmental control units and for these three pools, it meant products designed and manufactured exclusively in the UK by Heatstar. In 2013 the Gold Award winner in the Sustainability Category, won by Portrait Pools, featured a Heatstar XF EC In 2014 the Gold Award winner in the Sustainability Category, won by Rockingham Pool, featured a Heatstar Gemini
3000 Super Plus. In 2015 the Gold Award winner in the Sustainability Category, won by the London Swimming Pool Company, featured a Heatstar Andromeda EC 6000 Super.
These winners demonstrated that, when they were designing
Britain’s most sustainable and energy efficient swimming pools, Heatstar environmental control units were a great choice for their projects.

Calorex Offers Enhanced Variheat Range
Now featuring new and improved fan components and functions, Calorex’s Variheat range of swimming pool environmental control systems are quieter and more efficient than ever before. Upgrades to the fans in the Variheat AW600, AW900
and AW1200 means models will run to meet the actual system demand and installation.
Offering the ultimate in flexibility for tight plant room spaces, the Variheat range is a dehumidification and ventilation system in one, with heat pump heat recovery to swimming pool water and air.
Forward curved fans with a constant flow feature are now included in the Variheat units, which are factory set to deliver design airflow across the static pressure capability of the unit. This provides a number of advantages: • Faster commissioning as the unit delivers the required flow rate without adjustment.
• If the ducting system pressure changes, the unit self- adjusts to maintain the system design airflow rate through the unit.
• The fan runs more efficiently at optimum air flow. • Ordering and manufacture is simplified, as there is no longer a need to have low and high pressure fan variants due to self-adjusting constant flow fans.

Improvements have also been made to the fresh air box, which now features an EC variable speed fan. The fan can either be set at off or at a continuous trickle speed for when all temperature and humidity levels are normal. It can also be adjusted to suit the ductwork resistance that it is working against and allows the airflow to be tailored to suit the size of swimming pool room. This will increase system efficiency and decrease potential noise.
The Variheat range is specifically designed for light commercial or domestic use and offers in excess of 3,500 configurations. It can be supplied with heat recovery to air and water, or air only, and is suitable for use with renewable heating technologies such as heat pumps and can give summertime cooling through their unique refrigeration system.
