Bridgeall, which designs, develops and supports software solutions for a number of public, private and third sector clients, has seen a significant increase in business over the last few years. As a result, the company has moved its 30-strong workforce from Hillington to premises in George House on George Square, one of


Glasgow’s most prominent addresses. At the official opening night held


recently, Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal of Strathclyde University, with which the company has strong ties, congratulated the firm on its success. He spoke of the importance of linking business with education and the ongoing benefits to both.


In the last 12 months, the


company has seen its headcount increase by 43 per cent and it has invested £45,000 into training, upskilling and ongoing development. The links with Strathclyde University continue to offer mutually beneficial opportunities with over 50 per cent of the staff now heralding from there.

MMS backs Olympic swimmer Keri-Anne Payne


Maclay Murray & Spens LLP (MMS), the UK-wide commercial law firm, has teamed up with elite athlete Keri-Anne Payne, a highly successful open water swimmer and winner of Olympic and World Championship medals. The move, in which Keri-Anne


becomes an ambassador for MMS, sees the firm support her throughout the Olympics and the various


competitions leading up to Rio. Keri-Anne won a silver medal in the open water 10K event at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, followed by gold in the 2009 and 2011 World Championships. She was the first British athlete to qualify for the 2012 Olympics. MMS' sponsorship of Keri-Anne follows the firm's long- standing commitment to working

Paisley company is powered up after winning £9m contract


Local electrical and communications specialist Power 1 Group has secured a £9 million order to carry out the installation of 46,000 new Thorn Lighting, LED Luminaires, 16,000 new Column, along with all the associated Civil Engineering and Electrical Transfer Works for Northumberland County Council and Main Contractor GallifordTry Construction. The two-year contract is an


important award for the group and builds upon the successful installation of 22,000 LED Luminaires in Salford, Greater Manchester,


which was the first Retrofit Project of its kind in the UK. The company has invested heavily in the training and development of its 45-strong workforce, and developed key supply relationships over the previous three years. All of the company’s delivery teams are HEA accredited, and use their G39 trained electricians to carry out virtually all of the company’s work in this sector. The recent accreditation as an Independent Connection Provider (ICP) has also given the group the ability to provide a complete “one-stop shop” to its clients.

At the third London event on 12 February, 36 companies presented to an audience of 230 investors, buyers and sector support services. Libertine FPE won €20,000 and Scottish firm Celtic Renewables won the best pitch award.


And it’s coming to Glasgow. On 4 June, 25 companies, chosen for their commercial viability, will present at the new Technology Innovation Centre. Partners for the event include Zero Waste Scotland, DECC and Innovate UK with keynote addresses delivered by: Fergus Ewing, MSP; Shaun Kingsbury, CE of the Green Investment Bank; and Ian Gulland, Director of Zero Waste Scotland.
