Chamber report Report outlines the future of Glasgow

Glasgow Chamber of Commerce has published a report outlining how technology will impact the city’s centre over the next five years. Delivered by aerial drone to a delegation at

Glasgow Science Centre, the ‘Tomorrow’s City Centre: Glasgow Agenda’ white paper sets out to ‘consider how constantly evolving digital technologies will influence consumer behaviours and potentially impact the Glasgow city centre experience in the next five years.’ Written by Greg Clark, cities expert and Senior

Fellow, Urban Land Institute (ULI) Europe, it is the outcome of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and ULI’s retreat and conference, held in October 2014, which brought together over 100 people from both Glasgow and other urban hubs around the world. Designed to capture key questions, challenges, and opportunities facing Glasgow city centre, industry representatives and leading urban scholars from the UK, Europe and USA all voiced their observations and opinions about the impact of digital technologies. The project sought to capitalise on the work

already being done in the city through the City Centre Strategy; the Future City Demonstrator funded by TSB and Future Cities project at Strathclyde University as well as galvanising links and intelligence through private sector partners. The goal is to ensure Glasgow becomes the

most innovative and progressive city centre in Europe, providing an excellent and sustainable quality of life and experience that will drive growth in employment, population and shared prosperity. The report sets out 10 key priorities for the

next five years to adjust to rapidly evolving digital technologies, seize potential opportunities and develop a confident approach for the future. Speaking about the report, Stuart Patrick, Chief

Executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “This study reflects the ambitions of Glasgow to become one of the most advanced and connected cities in Europe. The report sets out a number of recommendations from industry experts and specialists within a wide range of business sectors.” To read the full report, visit

Maxim Office Park is continuing to attract a wide variety of tenants. This is thanks to its central location beside the M8 Dakota Hotel, flexible high-quality office space and excellent on-site amenities – including Berits & Brown bistro, Peppery Horse food takeaway, on-site children’s nursery, fitness classes, hairdresser and beautician. With a range of office spaces,

starting from 2,000 sq ft up to self-contained HQ buildings, businesses such as civil engineering contractor Wills Bros are benefitting from the flexibility of being able to lease the suite they need within the Park while taking advantage of the excellent location.

Another tenant, TC Biopharm, chose Maxim for its proximity to both Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as its flexible space. This has allowed the company to establish a clean room and a laboratory on site, which is set to become a centre of excellence in the cell therapy industry. Other tenants at the Park

include SEPA – which has leased the entire Maxim 6 building – motor giant Ford and motor insurance broker SureThing.
