New higher education curriculum for 2020
Glasgow’s colleges have agreed a new city-wide further and higher education curriculum for 2020 that will be among the most comprehensive and student- focused in the country. The city’s three colleges
– City of Glasgow College, Glasgow Clyde College, and Glasgow Kelvin College – have worked in partnership with Glasgow Colleges Regional Board and Scottish Funding Council to map out a new joint offering that will enable prospective students to make more informed and relevant choices ahead of the new academic session. Following a consultation
held last year with the aim of helping to shape, resource and enhance the future college curriculum in Glasgow, the colleges have established a range of courses relevant to the needs of students, the requirements of employers and education partners, while enhancing greater curriculum efficiency.

LLP and Glasgow Life submited a joint entry outlining how they used the Glasgow Welcomes programme to ensure their teams were able to deliver excellent customer service to visitors during the busy summer in Glasgow. Te programme was delivered to more than 3,000 employees
across the three organisations through a mix of face-to-face workshops and the Glasgow Welcomes online module. Te Learning and Performance
Institute, which runs the awards, recognised their efforts in the ‘People Development Programme of the Year’ category. Glasgow Welcomes, the city’s tourism service initiative, aims to deliver a world-class visitor experience through customer service development opportunities for owners, managers and staff at leisure, hospitality and tourism businesses.

whisky brands, is increasing capacity in order to target further international growth following the agreement of a substantial financing package with Bank of Scotland. Bank of Scotland has
provided the Airdrie- headquartered company with a term loan of £10 million which

will, in part, be utilised to support the construction of 12 additional warehouses. Te new facilities will create an additional 12,000 square metres of storage and allow the company to house a further 120,000 casks of whisky in addition to the current 500,000 capacity.
Alongside this, the funding
will be used to increase production capacity at Speyburn distillery. Te Distillery will see production more than double, producing 4.2 million litres of whisky per annum in order to meet demand for growing international markets.
