of the local Blues scene. Wicked Grin’s latest album, “Shame on me” continues to get solid airplay on DAWG-FM, and Sirius FM has also picked up on the record. The Ottawa Blues Society helped


send the band to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge after winning the annual “Road to Memphis” competition. This exposure, plus the Maple


Music Award, has really opened doors for Wicked Grin. “Our agent has already booked a


lot of gigs on the strength of that (the Maple Music Award),” says Murray. “That’s opened up a lot more venues and it does raise our profile in the business sense.” That element has also inspired

Wicked Grin to explore new options for 2015-16. In June the band is back in the studio to start recording the follow-up to “Shame on me”, and once the record is out, later this year or early 2016, they will take a stab at touring the U.S. and perhaps Europe. In the shorter term, Wicked Grin


is currently touring Western Canada and trying out some of their new material onstage, where, Murray says, “the songs can really evolve”. There are also several festivals booked for this coming summer across the country.


So after 10 years of hard work,


Wicked Grin is finally the best “new” Blues band in Canada. It doesn’t come as a surprise to
