• Monday, 9 March The Annual Dunblane Lecture which is jointly arranged by the Civic Society and the Local History Society at 7:30pm in the Victoria Hall.
Dr Tony Pollard,
Director of the Centre of Battlefi eld Archaeology, University of Glasgow and also co- presenter of the TV series “Two Men in a Trench” will talk on “Bannockburn”. Admission is £4 for members and £5 for non-members (incls. wine/soft drinks, etc.). Tickets on sale from both Societies and at Small Print, Dunblane or at the door on the night.
• Sunday March 15th, Forth Valley Friends of Scottish Opera. Hugh Macdonald on Janáček and Jenůfa. A new production of Janáček’s Jenůfa opens in April. Our speaker on both composer and work is Hugh Macdonald, who has played many roles in Scotland’s musical life. He taught music at Stirling University before moving to BBC Scotland’s music department, where he was variously Head of Music and Director of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. All very welcome. 2.30 pm, Smith Art Gallery and Museum, Stirling. Members £5, Visitors £6, Students £1, including tea/coff ee and biscuits.
• Monday 16th March, Cathedral Guild, 2pm Cathedral Hall. Living with Macular Degeneration This condition aff ects the retina at the back of the eye.
It is painless but
can lead to distorted vision or blank spots and is common in those aged over 50. Our speaker, Nancie Swan, who leads the Edinburgh Support Group, herself suff ers from Macular Degeneration.
• Wednesday 18th March, Dunblane Accordion & Fiddle Club at 7.30pm in the Victoria Hall Dunblane. The guests will be The Colin Dewar Band. welcome.

Saturday 21st March, Dunblane Scout Group will be holding our annual coff ee morning on from 10am - 12noon in the Cathedral Halls, Dunblane. Entry £2 (£1 children) which includes tea, coff ee, pancakes or scones. Please come along and support the Scout Group. There will also be a raffl e, bacon rolls for sale, a cake and candy stall, guess the weight of the cake and various activities for children.
• Wednesday 28th March, Dunblane Scottish Women’s Rural Institute at 7.30pm at the Victoria Hall, Dunblane. There will be a cookery demonstration by Mr George Wilkinson of Doune. Visitors are most welcome.
• Wednesday 28th March – Pub/Film Night, 7 for 7.30pm, Kinbuck Centre
