Mike at MPL says that the originality appropriate to high end agents can be found in other sectors, “Hotels – especially the smaller fashionable bespoke hotels with eclectic designs - restaurants and upper end bars where the ambience and style statements are so important.” Whilst Janice says that agents can look close to home at what their peers are doing in the up-market locations such as West London, Richmond or Wimbledon. Whilst plasma screens and LED walls may grab the attention, the classic design touches should never be forgotten. David Stevens says that the me&c team is always looking for innovative products to include in its projects and works closely with a number of manufacturers on high end fi nishes from Poltrona Frau (furniture) to Will Pearson (photography). The key to success of any fi t out is that it is
appropriate for that agent and makes them stand out from their peers. Mike Simons says, “Design and refurbishment that matches top end hotel standards should be the aim with real individuality. However even at the top end of the market design moves with fashion so it’s even more important for designers to create unique concepts that diff erentiates one agent from another. No two MPL designs are ever the same.”

But at the top end of estate agency, appearance and attention to detail is of paramount importance. “If you’re selling homes worth millions your buyers will move in luxury circles. A shabby offi ce with a dated interior scheme will not refl ect that type of customer; it’s a case of mirroring the customer and the properties they would like.”
