KU: What motivates you most about your sister?

HT: Becky always pushes me to be my best. We always want to beat each other, but we also want the best for each other. It’s kind of the perfect combination of support and competitiveness.

BT: I feel like Helen has always been one step ahead of me in her skills and ability on the field. Her unbelievable strength and her mental game is something I strive to have in my own game. It pushes me so that I can better myself in order to be on an even playing field (or a better playing field) with her.

When you played on the same team, did you have tunnel vision for your sister?

HT: Oh for sure, I love hucking it down the field to her. She knows exactly when I’m going to throw it, how far my throw is going to go, and she tends to do whatever it takes to catch my throw – makes us both look good.

HT: I recently made the roster for TC U23 attending worlds in London in 2015. I plan to keep training as much as possible so that I can help the team win a medal at worlds! After that, I’m going to keep playing competitively with McGill and various club teams. I’d also like to start coaching more in the future.

BT: Yes. We have a play we call the Sedin play. Usually it consists of only us two touching the disc for the whole point. It tends to be completed in two passes or less and generally involves a huck and a layout.

What’s next? What do you hope to accomplish?

BT: I want to get my head healthy so that I can train to make TC U23 in 2017. In the meantime, I will continue to play for the Guelph women’s Ultimate team and hopefully coach/play depending where I spend my summer!

At only 20, both sisters have been playing for almost eight years. They have given back to the Ultimate community and they have competed at the highest level. Their passion for the game is only out matched by their obvious care for one another.
