Are you sitting comfortAbly? Current demand is focused on creating an inviting customer experience, according to MPL. “Customers are buying their biggest purchase and should be in a comfortable environment. Current trend is to use fewer displays in the window in order for clients to see into a welcoming environment. “Although each design is unique, clients


want more individuality – a bespoke look and feel that reflects their brand essence. Increasingly clients want to stand out from each other and they look to us to create a new environment. A small independent may have a very different look to a large corporate agents.” “In reception areas, we are often putting


in clusters of meeting tables with two or three reception chairs around” says Jared Saggers. “This seems to be more in vogue than sofas and coffee tables and there is always a demand for statement pieces of furniture, especially in break out/reception areas. Bold colours are especially popular.”


While the statement piece is trendy,


the ‘at home’ feeling persists says MPL, “We are seeing a trend towards ‘boutique residential’ in branch interiors, with the use of lounge type chairs, lamps, rugs and striking feature wallpaper, to create a more welcoming environment. Chandeliers are very popular, with Chesterfield sofas and exotic rugs and many agents are mixing classic and traditional pieces with very contemporary decoration and the latest high-tech displays.”


Simply Ace: strong colours and bold designs.

more designer machines are a bit intimidating for the average client and don’t get used so much. And, the simple machines that we see when waiting to get our car serviced, shouldn’t really sit front of house. Much nicer I think to offer someone a coffee, and collect it for them!”


Who’s on the progrAmme? Where are the design hotspots in estate agency in this country (aside from that hotbed of creativity, London, that is!) Harry Simons says that they have been


working with agents all over the country; “We have seen agents in Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds looking to create unique and exciting designs that capture the imagination and make you want to walk in.” It’s not just London that wants ‘smart’,


says Jared, at Kraft, “There are innovative agents throughout the country and that helps keep our work interesting! Even on the Isle of Wight (please don’t


write in and complain, I love the Isle of Wight!) says Mid West Displays, “We have been lucky enough to design and manufacture some amazing displays for clients all over the country. One particular hotspot for us has been the Isle of Wight, where our displays were entered into a window display competition between several estate agents.”
