October 2014

Aries (3/21 - 4/20)

This is the month you’ve been waiting for all year...new things, new projects and new faces are showing up, along with those you already hold dear. Your personal progress is picking up the pace. It will be tempting to say yes to everything that’s exciting and new but do exercise discipline and don’t push yourself too far. You’ll want to save some energy for later, because as the holidays draw near you’re going to be up to your crown in projects, proposals, and activities. Remember your daily routines to help keep you grounded..

Taurus (4/21 - 5/20)

There might be a little bit of relationship ten- sion in the beginning of the month, which should subside fairly quickly if you don’t avoid what could bring new a solution to an old problem. Family members may be espe- cially prominent for you this month and year, as they bring blessings and merriment to your days. The end of the month is bustling with activity and excitement. It is very impor- tant to take special care of your health now and over the next several weeks. Be sure to get enough rest as well as stay hydrated.

Gemini (5/21 - 6/20)

Change is here and you’re ready for jug- gling the way you’re so good at doing, or are you? There could be so many things to do that you feel overwhelmed unless you break things down into sections and enough inter- vals for you to catch your breath. The good news is that you’re fully capable of that, and there isn’t much barring your progress other than your need to take things slow and be very thorough. Perhaps you will benefit from keeping a journal to sort out your thoughts, and at the very least a weekly list for ac- tivities.

Cancer (6/21 - 7/22)

Looking out ahead of you this month, you may see an expanse of unexplored terri- tory, with the realization of your untapped potentials in life. You’re possibly on the cusp of the receiving end of some great windfall which may come in the form of a thing or a person who comes to your rescue from some crazy dilemma. Averting danger or catastrophe can indeed be considered a stroke of a luck, and can put into clearer perspective other seemingly unrelated things. Gather your luck, resources, and energy for the new & wonderful!

Leo (7/23 - 8/22)

Remember the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” because right now you’re on a roll with positive change whether things seem to be occurring effortlessly or as a result of all your hard work. It’s highly possible that blips, mistakes and slip-ups also work in your favor this month, so enjoy some comic relief and rest knowing that your reputation and success won’t be sullied by such things. Don’t try to be perfect and don’t fret if oth- ers screw up. If you carefully choose your battles and your company you’ll be grateful later on.

Virgo (8/23 - 9/22)

This month you may have a special appre- ciation for colors, sounds, sights, and things that stimulate your senses in pleasing ways. Aromatherapy, long walks in nature, and massages are a few examples of things and activities that could be beneficial and pre- vent a worsening of stress conditions that have accumulated for you over the past few months. Go easy on yourself and just say no if you need to, if other people seem to be asking more than you have energy to do or give. Put off making any major decisions until the end of October.

Libra (9/23 - 10/22)

Something of significance that began for you in April is now coming full circle. Your love life may present you with shocking revelations or experiences and close part- nerships are taking new turns, as old ones resurface. Roles may switch or mutual goals may shift. Due to all of your recent adjust- ments you’ll likely appreciate some time alone by the end of the month to process, organize and regain your equilibrium. And finally, if you need to update or reinvent your image in some way this is the month to go for it.

Scorpio (10/23 - 11/22)

As though a fertile well, your imagination may be brimming with ideas, thoughts, and dreams this month that both disturb and de- light you, taking you on winding paths you would never before have dared venture. Your experiences may somehow resemble a bowl of mixed fruit...some sour, some more on the sweet side, and if you can wait it out for the first three quarters of the month the unripe ones will become the sweetest and best ever. The world is kind of like your oyster this month - you can go anywhere, be anything.

Sagittarius (11/23 - 12/21)

You may have recently been triggered to the core of your being and could find yourself in search of new ground, or any ground that nurtures, comforts and sustains you and the need to press further, reach higher and walk farther than perhaps you ever have. There are deeply transformative forces at work that are occurring in your life and re- lationships, and no matter how vulnerable you may feel at times you may possibly discover a form of loving protection holding and catching you that you didn’t even notice there before

Capricorn (12/22 - 1/19)

There are things you wanted to accomplish yesterday, last year for that matter, and now is not the time to give up, nor to let anyone talk you out of your truth. However exercis- ing a bit of patience along with what may be termed faith would be helpful for you this month. There is either a new teacher on the scene or you may find that you have become one to someone in your life. With your growing confidence, clarity and a com- mitment to service you may experience a smoothing out of difficult affairs later in the month and early next. .

Aquarius (1/20 - 2/18)

You have some breathing room this month from some of your mundane concerns which have stabilized to some extent, while perhaps a giant unexpected wild one ap- pears to stir the pot in a relationship or busi- ness endeavor. You might feel that a win- win decision cannot possibly made but must look again, with a soft inner gaze. There are some things that can only be seen with our intuition, and only be acted upon when we are in a state of calm. This time it’s not about being “right” but simply being honest with yourself.

Pisces (2/19 - 3/20)

Are you in the process of relocating, prepar- ing for a journey or on some kind of great spiritual quest at this time? It seems that one or all of these factors bear significance in your month, as well as a tremendous sense of relief that you have finally released some of your heavy ties to the past. You are now free to roam, soar, and express more of yourself. Maybe you feel unready to dive into a special project or that you have obligations to attend to first. Trust that you will known when and where the time is right to fly.

If you enjoy discovering ex- ceptional combinations of art- ists who are expert at combin- ing profound musical abilities with abundant sly wit and great humor, and for much zany fun, please do not wait to search for anything by, about, or per- formed by Peter Schickele. Born Johann Peter Schickele, July 17, 1935, to Alsatian im- migrant parents in Ames, Iowa. He is internationally recog- nized for his unique creative abilities, a kind of “musician’s musician” perhaps, because of his big output of over 100 works for symphonies, choral groups, chamber music, voice, movies and television. Schick- ele proves how clever not to take oneself too seriously in any endeavor, with his sharp humor.

The oldest American music publishing house, Theodore Presser & Co King of Prussia, PA, represents Peter Schickele the “perpetrator” of “The De- finitive Biography of P. D. Q. Bach” (Random House 11th Ed.). A super composer who dares to compose and record a “Last Tango in Bayreuth for Bassoon Quartet” is great by my standards. I am looking forward to hearing “Sneaky Pete and the Wolf.” He created the highly enjoyable musical scores for the film versions of both Sendak children classics: “Where the Wild Things Are” and “In the Night Kitchen.” And for the Disney “Fantasia 2000.” What fun to think you may discover more by these artists who share with us their lovely sense of humor.
