Santa Rosa, CA. ~ 4th annual Floating Pumpkin Patch is set for October 28! October is just a month away and that means you’ll soon be thinking about the hunt for the perfect pump- kin. Put a spin on that fun fam- ily tradition this year! Instead of trekking out to a dusty fi eld to trudge through the weeds and vines for that just-right pumpkin, put on your swimsuit and head to Ridgway Swim Center on Saturday, October 18th to carry on this tradition in the pool! The event is open to all ages from 2:00 – 6pm. In addition to the fl oating pump- kins, come enjoy a variety of fun activities including pump-

kin bowling, pumpkin decorat- ing, a gummy worm crawl, and many more! Prizes will be giv- en throughout the day and con- cessions will be open. Hey Paul, we took this awesome trip to Iceland! Name of Glacier: Solheimajokull, located in the southern tip of Iceland. Name of beauty contestants: Tim (the most beautiful one, left) Jared (the mean one,
but still Upbeat) and Jake (the Bear) Reason for Trip: Every three to four years, Troop 42 of Novato does an International adventure. The country selected for 2014 was Iceland. There were 24 participants composed of 12 scouts and 12 family members. Adventures included: Day 1& 2) traveling; Day 3) the Golden Circle tour which was com- posed of visiting the Strokkur geyser, Gulfoss (Golden) water falls as majestic as Niagra Falls, and Thingvellier National Park, where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart and it is also the site of the very fi rst parliamentary proceedings which took place
in AD 930; Day 4) trip to Reykjavik (Capital of Iceland); Day 5) high speed (55knots) river boat excursion, Day 6) service project at the
Ulfl jotsvatn Scout Center; Day 7) tour of Hellisheidarvirkjun Geother- mal Plant (second largest geothermal power plant in the world; Day 8) glacier walking on Solheimajokull Glacier and Day 9) bathing in the Blue Lagoon.
