SONOMA COUNTY, CA. ~ MUSICAL SANCTUARY Artists’ Showcase Concert pre- sented by A Miracle Production [AMP] which produces and promotes concerts, festivals and events cusing

mental sustainability. The inau- gural event débuts on October 25 at Arlene Francis Center for Spirit, Art & Politics features a line-up of local, talented artists. The creative artists gracing the stage are ODELL, Guthrie Gal- ileo, Ova Nova, The Linda Fer- ro Trio, The Howlin’ Tramps and DJ Loisaida.

The concept for MUSICAL SANCTUARY is to show- case some of the unique talent based in Sonoma County. Mix- ing musical genres in the artist line-up offers a smorgasbord of songs for the audience. The musical banquet features

the four piece band ODELL, whose “Soulful vocals come together with funky, smooth keyboard melodies while slick beats chase the groove out

Santa Rosa, Ca. ~ Traditional- ly, October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There are many fundraising en- deavors to find “the cure,” but very little information on pre- venting breast cancer. Most women think the only

defense against breast cancer is an annual mammogram and physical breast exam. They are unaware of other breast screen- ing options or breast wellness tools. Although mammography is currently the most widely- known breast screening, there is increasing controversy about radiation and breast compres- sion, and many women have started exploring other options. One of those is breast ultra- sounds, also called sonograms. It can locate a suspicious mass and uses sound-waves instead

of radiation and compression. Another more recent technol-

ogy, thermography, is quickly becoming a popular choice among women seeking safe, preventive screenings. Using infrared technology (a picture of body heat) to determine a woman’s breast cancer risk level, it offers a “color report card” describing her current breast health.

While mammograms and ul- trasounds can only detect mass- es that are already present, ther- mography can find unhealthy breast conditions before a mass forms, while a woman still has a chance to intervene.

This

technology is 100% safe, ra- diation-free, compression-free, and approved by the FDA as an adjunctive screening.

women to utilize safer breast screening options, preventive doctors and practitioners have discovered breast wellness tools that can enhance breast health. Here are a few of the most effective:

• Practice self-care and healthy stress management. Chronic daily stress and little self-care are two of the most common characteristics found in breast cancer patients. • Encourage lymphatic circula- tion. Avoid wearing underwire or constrictive bras and prac- tice lymphatic breast massage. • Choose a healthy whole foods diet, abundant in leafy green vegetables; limit coffee, sugar, alcohol and environmental tox- ins. The national breast cancer rate is currently 1 in 8 women,

There are better ways to

take care of your breasts! Let’s make October about prevention ~ after all, isn’t that really the best cure?
