“ECHOES” art exhibition by Sarah Bramley
The exhibition runs Tuesday the 1st April until Tuesday the 29th April. This is the Dunblane Museum opening for the fi rst time after winter closure. (The Exhibition/Museum opening hours are 10:30 am – 4:30 pm, closed Sunday).
As my fi rst major solo exhibition this is a very exciting prospect for me, and to be able to hold it in my hometown seemed quite fi tting. Many of my pieces have been inspired by the cathedral, so exhibiting in the museum is the perfect setting for my work. As well as having exhibited in galleries around the central belt, and participating in both Forth Valley Open Studios, and Perthshire Open Studios from my home in Dunblane, this is the next logical step for me in my development as an artist.
My new collection has been inspired by photos of the WWI Frontline, evoking atmosphere through texture and use of acrylics. I have used washes of paint to build up interesting shapes to draw in the viewer. My aim for this exhibition is to present an intriguing body of work based on such a powerful a subject matter. This interest was initially sparked by the old bunkers and trench works up on Sherrifmuir, these were used for troop simulation manoeuvres before going to the frontline.
My other works draw inspiration from elements of Scotland, from the wildlife, to derelict houses and bothies.
I’ll be producing some work on site during the exhibition, it would be a pleasure to chat to anyone interested in my work, I’ll be keeping my website and facebook up to date with what days I shall be at the exhibition.
