Hello & welcome to the April edition of theWire
I recently had a conversation with someone who was surprised to fi nd out that theWire was just me, in fact I often get email addressed to ‘the team at theWire’ so this seems to be a common misconception. theWire is a magazine thought up by husband and myself when we fi rst moved to Dunblane. We didn’t know anyone here, had no information on where things were or what was happening and so set about fi nding out. Since then thanks to your support, theWire has become an accepted part of this community, and I infl ict news and information on everyone on a regular basis!
The one area where I do get help though is getting the magazine through everyone’s door. We successfully deliver over 4000 copies every month come rain or shine... (mostly rain!) As the issues have become busier and bigger I am indebted to those who help, as more and more of my time is taken over with the practicalities of getting to print, leaving fewer days between issues to deliver. I have a wonderful team of volunteers who I have come to rely on and who now deliver over half of the magazines for me! They are a consistently cheerful, hugely reliable group of people without whom I really couldn’t manage. They get a BIG thank you - I couldn’t do it without you! If you can spare some time once a month to join our wonderful team, I can assure you that your help is hugely appreciated so please get in touch.
Easter is almost here and as you will all know by now, the abundant array of Cadburys makes it my favourite time of year. My children will have to hide their eggs if they are to survive my need to .. umm... quality test them but my family are now so familiar with my ‘borrowing’ habits - they buy them eggs which they know I won’t like! Very harsh!
If you are worried that there won’t be enough chocolate to get you safely through the whole of the school holidays, there is plenty to do.
The
Dunblane Centre has a packed programme of activities to keep them amused whether they are creative, sporty or future culinary stars! We have some fantastic recipes this month too, Wendy’s cake pops are perfect for the children to do; we have a gorgeously gooey chocolate cake recipe from Cafe Circa (it can be made gluten free too, if you have allergies) and then a quick, no fuss fi sh pie to help balance up all that sugar!
Next month is busy for Dunblane as it sees the return of the Fling - 21 years we’ve been celebrating it! I know there is lots planned and a few worries too, so catch up with the Fling Insider on page 7.
Thanks so much for your continued support. Deadline for next months issue is 10th April so get your news in as soon as you can!
enjoy the magazine! Fiona
