Donald F. Haller, Richmond, Va., May 11, 2013. Haller is survived by his wife June, a daughter, a sister, and two grandchildren.
Patricia A. Hummel, Madison, Wis., Jan. 3, 2013. Hummel had a distinguished career as a nurse administrator, researcher, and educator. She is survived by many friends and her dog Timothy.

Fred H. Pape, Crestview, Fla., May 1, 2013. Pape is survived by two siblings, two sons, and two grandchildren.

Richard C. Warner (G), New York, N.Y., Feb. 14, 2013. Warner served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-48. He was the founder and first presi- dent of the Great New York chap- ter of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He served as a fellow for the national ACSM and was recognized for 50 years of service to the organiza- tion in 2012. Warner was the founder of the Association for Worksite Health Promotion, and he served as director of Exxon Corporation’s fitness laboratory and director of the Equitable Assurance fitness facility, both in New York. He was involved in the YMCA , including as the physical education director at the YMCA of North Canton, Ohio, and the West Side Branch of the Greater New York YMCA. He was named the YMCA Physical Director of the Year twice during his career, and, in 1997, he was honored by the YMCA of Greater New York with the Volunteer of the Year Award for his 20 years of service to the West Side YMCA. Warner is survived by his wife Anne.
Edward C. Wood (G ’52), Hartford, Conn., Jan. 29, 2013. Wood held many different posi- tions in his professional career, including as a member the U.S. Navy, an assistant director of recreation in West Hartford, and the owner of Wood’s Sports Shop. Wood also spent many years in the insurance industry. He is survived by his wife Madelyn, his daughter, and three grandchildren.

Louis J. Bazzano (G’58), April 19, 2013. Bazzano served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His teaching and coaching career began in Plymouth, N.H., and continued in Hartford, Conn. In 1966, he became the assistant supervisor of physical education, health, and athletics for the Hartford School System, followed by a promotion in 1979 to coordi- nator of physical education and athletics. He retired in 1991 after a 40-year career, with 38 of those years spent in Hartford. He was honored numerous times for his work and he received the UNICO National Special Athletic Award, and the Connecticut Sports Writers’ Alliance Gold Key Award. He earned membership in the New Britain Sports Hall of Fame, Connecticut High School Coaches Hall of Fame, and New England Sports Hall of Fame. Bazzano leaves behind his children and their families.
Regina T. Henderson (G), Springfield, Mass., March 4, 2013. Henderson was a school teacher and then a school psychologist in the Bureau of Pupil Services. She is survived by her brother.
Stanley A. Porter, Worcester, Mass., Dec. 22, 2012. Porter served in the U.S. Army. He achieved the rank of sergeant and earned a Purple Heart during his two-years with the Army. Porter

worked as a history teacher and coach, then owned a hardware and sporting goods store, before getting into advertising sales. He is survived by his four children, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

John Starr, Sarasota, Fla., Dec. 29, 2012. Starr was a World War II veteran and a physical therapist in Florida for 37 years. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, three grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Francis X. Sweeney, Waterford, Conn., Dec. 13, 2012. Sweeney served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard during World War II as a gunner aboard the Liberty Ship Zane Gray. He had a long tenure as a school teacher, coach, and athletic director. Later in life, Sweeney went back to school and became a nurse. He is survived by his wife Betty, six children, and 15 grandchildren.

Forrest M. Bateman, Chichester, N.H., March 14, 2013. Bateman served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He also served in numerous positions at the former People’s United Methodist Church in Bradford, N.H., and the Chichester United Methodist Church. He is survived by two nieces.

Robert A. Tacy, Modesto, Calif., May 3, 2013. Tacy served in the U.S. Navy before taking a teaching position at the University of Illinois. He eventually moved to California and worked with the
YMCA. Robert is survived by his wife June, three children, and three grandchildren.
Paul A. Tripp, Westerly, R.I., Feb. 17, 2013. Tripp was a high school and college science teacher. He is survived by his wife Teresa, three daughters, a son, and four grand- children.

Jerome S. Perry, Grand Island, N.Y., April 7, 2013. Perry served two years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician before enjoying a long career as a coach, teacher, and administrator with the Niagara Falls Board of Education. Perry is survived by his wife Marie, three children, and two brothers.
Catherine Shaylor (G), Hartford, Conn., Jan. 21, 2013. Shaylor had a long and successful career as an underwriter for Traveler’s Insurance in Hartford, Conn., and was an avid fisherwoman and traveler throughout her life. She is survived by her sister.

Margaret E. Carey (G), Springfield, Mass., May 9, 2013. Carey began her career at Mount Holyoke College before spending the rest of her career teaching in the Springfield Public Schools.
Richard E. Crosson, Holyoke, Mass., Jan. 19, 2013. Crosson served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, taught social studies for many years, and owned and operated Scott’s Driving School in Holyoke, Mass. He is survived by his wife Barbara, three children, a brother and sister, nine grandchil- dren, and six great grandchildren.
