Reggiani USA supplied a custom lighting system to Lord & Taylor, a new store in Yonkers, NY, helping to create an exciting new interior design concept, while bringing to life the building’s impresive façade.

Reggiani USA supplied a custom lighting system to the new Lord & Taylor Ridge Hill department store in Yonkers, New York, integrating high-end LED, metal halide, fluorescent technologies, structurally echoing the triangular pattern of the building’s façade. The resulting 2.6 m-sided modular triangular interior lighting structures provide accent, diffused, direct and indirect lighting.

These large, white or black pendant triangles help push the boundaries in the large store (7400m², with average ceiling heights of 6m), making Ridge Hill stand apart from Lord & Taylor’s Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York. The lighting designer, backed by

architecture and interior designers Giorgio Borruso Design, was afforded the opportunity of providing really effective lighting for the space and the in-store merchandise, due to the top quality colour rendering and high-efficiency optics, while still managing to comply with the restrictive energy consumption limits now imposed throughout the United States. The volume of the store’s interior space is defined by both the elegant white box (floors and ceilings) and by twister or mushroom shaped sculptural columns, providing a strong, stimulating contrast with the sharp corners of the rest of the project’s structures. Reggiani’s luminous triangles are a smart

solution, which defines the lighting design of this innovative project without being monotonous and clichéd.

The strategically placed black triangular pendants immediately draw attention upwards, becoming an orientation tool for the public, while emphasising the pathways and the store’s primary volumes. Designed and developed on a paper napkin in a restaurant, the product was developed in just three months, using sophisticated lighting design ‘engines’, which feature in the standard components of the Reggiani fixtures. www.reggianiusa.com www.borrusodesign.com
