Regional Armed Forces Covenant Coordinators join the Federation Team

T

he RAF Families Federation has recruited four Regional Armed Forces Covenant Coordinators to ensure

members of the RAF community do not face disadvantage compared to others.

Bill Mahon, Director of the RAF FF said:

“We know that many are still cynical about the Armed Forces Covenant, its motives and its value – but the Covenant is beginning to make a real difference and the Regional Armed Forces Covenant Coordinators the RAF Families Federation has introduced will help spread the word, monitor and report on its implementation.

“One of the issues concerning the Federation is the gap between the aspirations of the government, the executives in the agencies charged with delivering the Covenant principles and the actual delivery on the ground, where the story is often different and where too many of our people are still being disadvantaged.

“Our new team members are the specialists out there working with serving members, families and unit Community Support staffs to help bring the Covenant to you and to identify both good practice and problems that need to be resolved.

They also work with local authorities and government organisations, service charities and the other services Families Federations to help achieve a joined up approach on Covenant issues within each region.

“It is essential that our people are given a fair deal and that the principles underlying the Covenant are understood and respected. Each of our new team members has a sound understanding of the RAF lifestyle and a good appreciation of the details of the Armed Forces Covenant. They are, therefore, extremely well placed to work to the benefit of RAF personnel and their family members”. 
