The Iwasaki estate is an important cultural asset with a magnifi cent Western-style residence, a princely Japanese style house and extensive gardens. A Western-style building with a billiard room was designed by Josiah Conder in the Meiji era who also designed many buildings in Tokyo including the “Rokumeikan Guest House”.

Mukojima-Hyakkaen Gardens 向島百花園


Hyakkaen means “garden covered with all sorts of fl owers during the four seasons”. This is a garden for professionals of arts and literature and also for ordinary people who love wild and cultivated fl owers. Established in the late Edo era.
