Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo 東京都現代美術館


The key theme of the museum with its approximately 4,500 works has been the development of Japanese art since WWII. Simultaneously, it also added works by young artists who reveal extensively the current state of art. The MOT Collection (regular exhibit) changes several times a year and includes about a hundred pieces each time.

c SUMIDA AQUARIUM すみだ水族館 The huge aquarium themed on the sea of the “Tokyo islands”, recreating the waters of the Natural World Heritage site, the Ogasawara Islands, is spectacular. A time-honored park opened to the public by Yoshimune Tokugawa so that common people could enjoy viewing cherry blossoms there. Sports can also be enjoyed on the grounds as there is a marathon course, athletic equipment, and more.
