“Our pay conti nues to be excellent when in comparison to similar jobs in Civvy Street. We also have more job security than most and an excellent allowances, benefi ts and pension scheme. People should stop moaning and start being grateful that the public support is so high that we are protected to a point against the cuts.”

“I have noti ced a huge change in atti tude amongst personnel and amongst families. A lot of personnel now treat the RAF as a job rather than a lifestyle. It seems the RAF and armed forces are being pushed aside where once they were an integral part of the service persons way of life. It is very sad to see as most people join the forces for the way of life and exciti ng career opportunity. Hopefully this will change and once again people along with their families will enjoy the RAF 'way of life'.”

“All the listed advantages used to be there but now they are disappearing. Job security has been taken away with redundancies and how more contractors are being employed. Learning trades is ok but we hardly get recognised qualifi cati ons. You have no control over promoti on opportuniti es. Pay is frozen and allowances have decreased. Pension has changed. Travel is ok. Sport and adventurous training has decreased with personnel being refused ti me off . SFA is mediocre.”
